Less Privacy Is Good for Us (and You)
In this article written by Amitai Etzioni, privacy is viewed from a "less is more" standpoint. Etzioni states that the less privacy we have, the safer we are. Although this may be true, privacy is something everyone is entitled to. I believe privacy is something that should be balanced in a way that people are safe going on with their day-to-day activities, but shouldn't be worried that just anyone can track them at any given moment. The Fourth Amendment is prohibiting unreasonable searches and seizures, and Etzioni thinks this is the way privacy should be limited. It;s obvious that no one should be allowed to ransack your house for no reason and this Amendment supports that. When it comes to safety and health, Enzioni feels privacy comes second. I can't say that I disagree or agree exactly. I like my privacy as much as the next guy, but my safety does come first.

I definetly agree with your point on how privacy should be measured by how you, individually, live your day to day lives and the activities your participate in. You cant draw a line on how much privacy you can have.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Etzioni that if we have less privacy we will be safer, but I do not think that everyone should have their privacy taken away. I think that people who have committed serious crimes should have less privacy than people who have not. Taking privacy away from criminals would make people safer without taking away everyone's rights. I also think that people should have their privacy taken away if something suspicious is going on that involves them or someone they are very close to.
